Often listed together, bath salts and synthetic marijuana are two widely varying types of chemical substances used to experience a high.
Some of the most common names for synthetic marijuana include:
- K2
- Spice
- Blaze
Many synthetic marijuana companies advertise that their product is all natural. Supposedly, they combine a variety of different herbal substances that also lead to a high when smoked.
In reality, very few specimens even show natural samples. Many synthetic marijuana samples are actually created through the addition of highly toxic chemicals. In fact, many samples showed no natural substances in the mix whatsoever.
This makes the drug even more dangerous. Just as with bath salts, the unregulated, cottage-style production means that there's no clear idea of what exactly goes into a bath of synthetic marijuana. For the consumer, it becomes even more dangerous.
Synthetic marijuana in particular is shown to cause an increase in psychosis. It increases both the frequency and length of psychotic episodes, which often leads to suicidal behavior, self-abuse, aggression and fighting, and much more depending on the individuals and specific substances.
In addition to psychosis (a terrifying side effect on its own), synthetic marijuana can also lead to:
- heart attacks
- convulsions
- catatonia
- temporary paralysis
- vomiting
- and more
Often sold as incense in foil packages, synthetic marijuana possession is only starting to carry severe legal repercussion. It's an incredibly dangerous substance, and should not be taken lightly.
Unfortunately, many individuals abuse this drug because they think it is safer (due to its previous legal status) and does not show up in traditional drug tests.
Do not be confused. Synthetic marijuana is nowhere near safer than marijuana!
Although it does not show in traditional drug tests, there are a handful of powerful, cutting edge laboratories throughout the country that can run specific tests for both synthetic marijuana and bath salts.
Fortunately, we partner with one of those laboratories, and are more than happy to help erase your doubts regarding abuse of this substance or any others.
